How long does it take for menopause to be considered menopausal?

Normally, menopause is considered to have occurred after 12 consecutive months of menopause. Women may typically enter the menopausal transition period, between the ages of 45 and 55, when ovulation and menstruation stop, mainly due to the decline or even loss of ovarian function. When menstruation stops for more than 12 months it is called menopause. Menopause is generally categorized into natural menopause and artificial menopause. Natural menopause is a natural physiological phenomenon because it is caused by the physiological depletion of follicles in the ovaries as we age. Artificial menopause, on the other hand, is generally due to pathological factors, and is caused by surgery or other actions on the ovaries. During the period of menopause, attention should be paid to vulvar hygiene and changing underwear frequently to avoid gynecological infections. If patients experience discomfort after menopause, they should go to a regular hospital for consultation.
