Back pain with deep breathing may be caused by intercostal nerve injury, respiratory disease or cardiovascular disease.
1. Intercostal nerve injury: Intercostal nerve injury may result in localized inflammation, and the contraction of the surrounding muscle tissues during deep inhalation may stimulate the inflamed area and cause back pain.
2. Respiratory diseases: Many respiratory diseases such as pleurisy, pneumothorax and lung cancer may involve the chest wall of the patient, resulting in chest and back pain, and the pain is associated with breathing movement.
3. Cardiovascular disease: some patients with coronary heart disease may have angina pectoris induced by deep breathing after exertion, which can be temporarily relieved after taking nitroglycerin.
