How long is it appropriate to take omeprazole

How long to take omeprazole depends on the disease the patient is suffering from, and the course of treatment varies from disease to disease. Omeprazole is the most commonly used PPI drug in clinical practice. PPI drugs are currently the strongest drugs to inhibit stomach acid. It is clinically effective for common gastric diseases, but the course of treatment differs from disease to disease. For example, for peptic ulcer, the course of treatment for gastric ulcer is 6-8 weeks, and the recommended course of treatment for duodenal ulcer is 4-6 weeks. For some reflux esophageal disease, it may take about 3 months, and intermittent maintenance treatment may be required at a later stage. Therefore, the application of the drug must be applied under medical advice, and the course of treatment varies from disease to disease. If the drug is used for too short a time, it may not achieve the therapeutic effect, and if it is too long, it may cause the suppression of stomach acid for too long and affect the digestive function. So be sure to combine the condition and follow the doctor’s prescription for the drug.
