Epilepsy is actually referred to as a seizure. A person who has a seizure may have visual aura such as distortion of vision, blurring of vision, and flashing lights before the seizure. Patients may also have early symptoms such as dizziness as well as smelling strange odors. These patients may also experience early symptoms such as swelling of the head, headache, and numbness of the limbs. Then there are some patients who may have a seizure aura, which the patient can often feel on his or her own and may have a seizure. Seizures can manifest as different types of seizures, and most patients can experience seizures with convulsions, tonicity, and clonus of the limbs, and later on, patients may experience headaches, head swelling, and incontinence.
