The most common cause of nail infections in babies is ingrown nails, which are not good, and nail infections usually do not heal on their own. Ingrown nails are nails that are cut too deep or too diagonally inside the toe seam when trimming, causing the nail to grow back with a sharp cone-shaped barb, which is inserted directly into the flesh and grows deeper and deeper, easily depositing dirt and destroying the normal skin barrier, making it easy for bacteria to grow. If the nails are not trimmed well, or if the ingrown nails are not good, the child’s nail infections usually do not heal. Therefore, nail clipping is a very important part of the process for moms and dads. If nail infection occurs, in addition to trimming the ingrown nail well, topical application of fusidic acid is recommended to be able to promote inflammation repair and healing. If purulent dactylitis occurs and the toe becomes swollen, a visit to the pediatric orthopedic emergency room is recommended for treatment.
