What are microscopic nodules in the lungs

Lung micronodules are hyperdense shadows less than 5mm in diameter on lung imaging, with a variety of clinical etiologies, and are mainly observed on follow-up.
Micronodules are usually small in diameter and are mainly detected by chest ct. Possible causes of pulmonary micronodules include benign factors, such as bacterial infection, pulmonary microinfarction foci, inflammatory changes in the lungs, benign tumors, etc., and malignant factors, i.e., early lung cancer. Usually the causes of early lung micronodules are mainly benign factors, and only a small number of patients are due to early lung cancer.
Patients with lung micronodules are mainly observed by clinical follow-up, and a follow-up plan can be formulated according to the patient’s specific situation and the results of risk assessment, etc. Patients should undergo follow-up imaging examinations on time and pay close attention to the changes of lung nodules.
