What is the exact formula for Angelica Chai Hu Tang?

There is no exact recipe for Angelica Chai Hu Tang. There are two common ancient formulas. Dang Gui Chai Hu Tang (当归柴胡汤) composed of Angelica sinensis, Paeonia lactiflora, Platycodon grandiflorus, Betel nut, Citrus aurantium dulcis (枳壳), Gui Zhi (桂枝), Chai Hu (柴胡), and Qing Mu Xiang (青木香), is mainly used to treat postpartum blood qi, coercion, distension and pain in the ribs. Dang Gui Chai Hu Tang, composed of Chai Hu, Han Xia, Angelica Sinensis and Licorice, is mainly used in treating typhoid fever (a disease in which fever is caused by feeling cold) with headache, fever and malignant cold (fear of cold), pain in the limbs and joints, and vomiting and retching. The adverse effects of the above formula are not known. The composition of the drug and the efficacy of the prescription are directly related, need to be under the guidance of a doctor, according to the different diagnosis of the condition after the selection of the prescription plus or minus symptomatic treatment.
