Can urinary ultrasound detect stones at the lower end of the ureteral node?

Urologic ultrasound is able to detect some of the stones in the lower end of the ureter ureter and in some cases ultrasound may not be able to detect stones in the lower end of the ureter. Ultrasound is one of the most commonly used means of examining patients for urinary stones, and almost any stone can be visualized on ultrasound, including some stones that cannot be visualized on X-ray. However, there are some cases in which stones cannot be visualized, such as when the patient has severe abdominal distension, gas in the abdomen, or when the patient’s stones are too small to be detected clearly by ultrasound. Currently, the main treatment for lower ureteral stones is transurethral ureteroscopic lithotripsy, and even ureteroscleroscopic lithotripsy can be used to remove stones that are located very close to the lower end of the ureter.
