How to choose the right vessel for venipuncture

The choice of vessel for venipuncture should be made in the context of the patient’s condition, the treatment to be done, and the drugs to be applied. If the patient needs to undergo rescue, major surgery, cardiac surgery, long-term medication, greater vascular stimulation of drugs, higher osmolality of drugs, measurement of central venous pressure, monitoring of cardiac volume loading, larger doses of vasoactive drugs, and understanding of cardiac function, then deep vein and central venous puncture should be used more often. If the patient is just having an ordinary infusion, the stimulus of the drug is not too big, and the primary hospital or clinic where the patient consults does not have the conditions to perform DVT or CVT, peripheral vascular puncture or PICC can be considered.
