The whole process of chalazion surgery

Chalazion is also known as blepharocyst. The surgical procedure mainly includes local anesthesia, making an incision near the chalazion, removing the contents of the capsule, applying pressure to stop bleeding and covering the eye pads. 1. Local anesthesia: local anesthesia drugs such as lidocaine are often used to infiltrate the conjunctiva and skin in the lesion area. 2. Make an incision: according to the size and location of the chalazion, choose the appropriate location, if the chalazion is close to the conjunctiva, you can choose to make an incision perpendicular to the eyelid margin, if the chalazion is close to the skin, you can choose to make an incision parallel to the eyelid margin. 3. Remove the contents of the cyst: after incising the cyst, the pus can be allowed to spill out by itself, and then a spatula can be used to remove it completely, and finally the wall of the cyst can be pinched up to remove it. 4. Pressure to stop bleeding and cover the eye pads: After the chalazion is completely removed, you can press the gauze on the incision with your fingers, wait for the bleeding to stop, then apply antibiotic ointment such as tobramycin to the conjunctival sac to prevent infection, cover the eye pads, and change the medication regularly. The medication should be used as prescribed by the doctor. After surgery, the healing of the wound should be closely monitored, paying attention to whether there is bleeding, subcutaneous hardness, recurrence, etc. It is important to keep the wound hygienic and develop good eye habits. Patients are advised to go to the ophthalmology department of regular hospitals and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
