The causes of slightly wider left lateral ventricle than the opposite side in adults include soft foci of the brain, brain atrophy, congenital factors and so on.
1. Cerebral softening foci: If the patient has a history of cerebral hemorrhage and cerebral infarction, softening foci can be formed when the disease gradually enters into the sequelae stage. The softening foci will pull the brain tissue to a certain extent, which will widen the lateral ventricle on the affected side.
2. Cerebral atrophy: when suffering from cerebral atrophy, there will be widening of lateral ventricles in the imaging examination. The degree of cerebral atrophy may not be exactly the same in both cerebral hemispheres, and if the atrophy on the left side is serious, the left lateral ventricle will be widened a little bit compared with the opposite side.
3. Congenital factors: A few people have bilateral hemispheric asymmetry due to congenital development, and the left lateral ventricle may be slightly wider than the opposite side, but there are no obvious discomfort symptoms.
If you find that the left lateral ventricle is slightly wider than the opposite side, you need to consult a doctor in time to make a clear diagnosis and standardize the treatment.
