Recipe for Lung Tonic Soup

In “Yong class Inscription formula”, it is recorded that the formula of Lung Replenishing Tang is Ginseng, Astragalus, Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata, Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis, Fructus Schisandrae chinensis, Fructus Aster, and Sang Bai Pi. Astragalus and ginseng can tonify the lungs and benefit qi (tonifying lung qi); Sang Bai Pi and Aster can lower qi and calm asthma (using qi lowering medicines to solve the upward reversal of qi), eliminate phlegm and relieve cough (removing phlegm and dampness to stop coughing); Fructus Schisandrae chinensis can astringent lung qi; and Radix Rehmanniae Praeparata can nourish the kidneys and fill up the essence (replenishing the essence of kidneys in the body). The combination of these herbs has the effect of tonifying the lungs and benefiting the qi, relieving cough and calming wheezing (stopping cough and calming wheezing), and is used to treat shortness of breath and spontaneous sweating (involuntary sweating during the daytime, aggravated by the slightest movement of sweating), coughing and wheezing in the weak lungs, weak voice, pale tongue, and a weak pulse. Lung tonic soup is suitable for people with prolonged cough and weak lung qi, while other coughs are not suitable for this formula. If the patient’s Lung Yin is weak, add Jade Bamboo, Radix Panax Ginseng and Lily in Lung Tonifying Tang; if cold phlegm exists internally, add Fenghuang Flower and Su Zi; if there are hot flushes (bursts of fever) and night sweats (abnormal sweating after going to sleep, sweating stops after waking up), add Radix Gentianae Macrophyllae, Folium Tetrapodis, and Dicentrarchaeum; and if there is more spontaneous sweating, add Oyster and Ephedra Root. If you need to use Lung Tonics, it should be identified by a professional doctor and taken under the doctor’s guidance to avoid adverse reactions.
