Tic disorders, also called tic disorders, are a group of disorders that occur primarily in children and manifest as a motor disorder of the muscles that move and the muscles that make sounds. Tics are random, sudden, rapid, recurrent movements or vocalizations that have no apparent purpose and are not rhythmic. Twitching can occur in any part of the body, but the most common types of twitching in children are eye blinking, nose shrugging, shoulder shrugging, head tossing, head twisting, throat clearing and coughing, and even swearing, which cannot be restrained and can be controlled for a short period of time, but not for a long time. There are three clinical types of transient tic disorder, chronic motor or vocal tic disorder and tic obscura syndrome. Generally, tics can be seen in pediatrics with some experienced doctors or in psychiatry, both of which can see tics.
