The process of aspiration operation for newborns is mainly as follows: i. Check whether the suction device performs well and whether each catheter is connected correctly before aspiration. Second, the baby should be placed in the supine or lateral position, and the mucus in the mouth should be sucked first, followed by the mucus in the nostril, so as not to inject the mucus into the trachea when gasping or crying. Third, the negative pressure of suction should be moderate, adjusted at 60mmHg-100mmHg according to the viscous degree of mucus, and do not attract negative pressure during the insertion of suction tube. Suck sputum while rotating and lifting upward so as not to damage mucous membrane by continuous adsorption of the suction tube at one point. IV. The duration of each aspiration should not exceed 10 seconds, and the aspiration tube should not be inserted too deeply to avoid causing vomiting reflex. V. During the process of suctioning, pay attention to the baby’s face and breathing, and if abnormalities are found, stop suctioning immediately and wait for the situation to improve before suctioning again until it is finished. Do not overfill the aspirated liquid in the reservoir bottle, and pour it out in time. After the operation, record the color, nature and amount of the aspirate.
