The cause of acne in the jaw area, also known as common acne, has not been fully clarified, and is mainly considered to be caused by abnormal androgen levels, blockage of follicular openings, and propagation of Propionibacterium acnes.
1. Abnormal androgen levels: Especially after puberty, increased levels of androgen in the patient’s body can lead to an increase in the size of sebaceous glands, increased sebum secretion, and clogging of pores with sebum and shedding of dead skin cells, resulting in the formation of acne.
2. Blocked follicular opening: When the keratinization of the cells around the hair follicles in the jaw area is abnormal, it can also lead to narrowing and blockage of the follicular opening, and the sebum inside the follicles can not be excreted efficiently, thus piling up inside the follicles and forming acne.
3. Propionibacterium acnes colonization: When Propionibacterium acnes colonizes the hair follicles in the jaw area, it can damage the tissue around the follicles, leading to the spread of inflammation, thus causing acne.
There may be other causes of acne in the jaw area, so it is recommended that patients go to the hospital in time and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment.
