Why does it hurt when a fishbone gets stuck in your ear?

Stuck fishbone earache is caused by pharyngeal irritation involving the ear branch of the vagus nerve and the glossopharyngeal nerve, causing earache, and the foreign body should be removed promptly. Fishbone stuck in the throat may lead to irritating pain in the throat, accompanied by symptoms such as foreign body sensation and obstruction in the throat. If the fishbone damage is deeper, it may involve the ear branch of the vagus nerve as well as the glossopharyngeal nerve, and then it can cause severe pain around the ear as well as inside the ear. The fishbone should be removed from the throat to relieve the symptoms. Doctors often use an indirect laryngoscope or fiberoptic laryngoscope, depending on the patient’s condition, to remove a fishbone stuck in the throat. Patients are advised not to remove the fishbone themselves after it gets stuck in the throat, but to go to a regular hospital and ask the doctor to remove it in time to avoid aggravation of the condition.
