Endometrial thickening can be caused by polycystic ovary syndrome, endometrial polyps, endometrial cancer and other diseases.
1. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): The cause of PCOS is unknown, and it is considered to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors, and it is common among women of childbearing age. As patients with polycystic ovary syndrome may have the symptom of persistent anovulation, the relative increase of estrogen causes the endometrium to be in a proliferative state for a long time, which leads to the thickening of the endometrium.
2. Endometrial polyps: The cause of endometrial polyps is not yet clear, but it is considered to be related to high estrogen level and inflammation stimulation, and the common symptom is abnormal uterine bleeding. If endometrial polyps are large and multiple, endometrial thickening can be seen on imaging.
3. Endometrial cancer: endometrial cancer is mainly due to excessive stimulation of endometrium by estrogen, and obesity, diabetes, ovarian diseases are the high risk factors of endometrial cancer. If the cancer cells of endometrium spread to the myometrium, it may also lead to localized endometrial thickening.
There may also be other reasons for endometrial thickening, so it is recommended to consult a doctor as soon as possible, complete the relevant examinations, make a clear diagnosis under the guidance of a professional doctor, and target treatment to avoid delaying the condition.
