How long does it take for a fractured iliac bone to heal

Complete healing of the iliac fracture takes at least 3 months. After the iliac fracture, it is still necessary to improve the pelvic CT and 3D reconstruction to accurately determine the displacement of the iliac fracture and whether there is any involvement of key areas such as the acetabulum. If the iliac fracture is not significantly displaced, conservative treatment can be chosen. The method of conservative treatment is bed rest and recuperation, which takes about 2 months, followed by review of the fracture site X-ray to determine whether it is possible to walk with weight on the ground according to the fracture healing condition. During the bed rest period, intensive care is required, such as turning, back patting, limb movement, and prevention of bed rest related complications, such as lung infection, bed sores, deep vein thrombosis, etc. If the iliac fracture is severely displaced, then surgical repositioning and internal fixation treatment should be considered. The recovery time after surgery is at least 3 months, so pay attention to rest and regular follow-up.
