What to do if your full-term baby has green stools

Most of the green stools of full-month babies are physiological and usually do not require special treatment. If accompanied by thinning stools, it may be caused by improper diet, and dietary adjustments are needed.
Food contains fat, which is metabolized by the action of bile, which is green in color. Full-term babies have a faster metabolism and have more frequent bowel movements, usually soon after eating. Due to the baby’s intestinal peristalsis faster, bile in the baby’s food involved in the metabolism of fat, not fully oxidized that is discharged, so the stool can be green.
If the baby’s mental state is good and there is no obvious change in the nature of the stool, no special treatment is needed.
If the baby’s mental state is not good and the stool is thin, it may be due to improper diet, insufficient feeding, etc., which requires timely adjustment of dietary structure for feeding. If the baby is mainly breastfed, the mother can increase the intake of vitamins and eat a light diet. For formula-fed babies, due to nutritional deficiencies, they need to eat less and more often, and can change the formula if necessary.
If the child is depressed, has increased stool frequency and poor diet, it is recommended to consult the nearest hospital to clarify the cause of the disease and seek treatment under the guidance of a specialist.
