The antihypertensive drug Irbesartan, which is an angiotensin di-receptor antagonist, is a first-line long-acting antihypertensive drug. It can be used to treat hypertension, reduce proteinuria, increase renal blood flow, and prevent left ventricular remodeling. Patients with creatinine levels above 3mg/dL are not recommended to take this drug. Patients with hyperkalemia are also not recommended to take this drug. If blood pressure cannot be controlled by these antihypertensive drugs alone, it is recommended that they be used in combination with diuretics, such as hydrochlorothiazide tablets, or calcium channel blockers, such as felodipine and amlodipine, for better antihypertensive efficacy.
