Bone protrusion must first be corrected at the appropriate age, usually after the child’s third birthday, but then again, it must be done before the age of nine, a period when skeletal development is not yet complete and is better suited for correction of skeletal deformities. Primarily, an anterior retractor and a chin-pocket can be used. The chin-pocket inhibits the overgrowth of the mandible and the anterior retractor stimulates the underdeveloped part of the maxilla to grow as quickly as possible, and the two of them can be used in conjunction with each other or separately. It is also important to wear braces in the mouth to work with them and act as a bite guide. It is important to treat protruding teeth and bones as early as possible to prevent the bone from forming with no way to continue treatment afterward.
