How long can you live with myelodysplasia?

It is not possible to generalize how long myelodysplasia can live, it is related to the patient’s age and the stage of the disease. Generally speaking, patients in the low-risk group have a longer survival time and can reach more than 10 years, or even be cured, while patients in the high-risk group have a poorer prognosis, and may die between a few months and a year.
Myelodysplasia refers to myelodysplastic syndromes, if the patient belongs to the low-risk group and is relatively young, there is a certain possibility of survival for more than 10 years, if the body quality is better, and can tolerate transfusion of red blood cells, platelets, and a variety of chemotherapy, it is expected that the condition will be adjusted and stabilized for a period of time, and hematopoietic stem cell transplantation can be feasible to extend the life of the patient if necessary.
If the patient is older and in poor physical condition, he/she may not be able to tolerate chemotherapy, and older patients have a certain chance to suffer from underlying diseases, long-term bedridden, etc., which may induce infections and organ dysfunctions, and the survival rate is relatively low.
It is recommended to go to the hematology department of the regular hospital in time, under the guidance of the doctor for treatment, appropriate exercise, balanced diet and nutrition, and maintain a good state of mind.
