What causes intrahepatic bile duct dilatation

There are many causes of intrahepatic bile duct dilatation, including congenital choledocholithiasis, cholelithiasis, and biliary tract tumors.
1. Congenital choledocholithiasis: it can occur in any part of the intrahepatic and extrahepatic bile ducts, and most of the patients develop in childhood, manifesting as cystic dilatation of the intrahepatic bile ducts of different sizes.
2. Cholelithiasis: it is a common and frequent disease that occurs in the intrahepatic bile ducts. The cause of the disease is complicated, mainly related to biliary tract infection, biliary parasites and biliary stasis, and the intrahepatic bile duct stones can easily enter into the common bile duct, and then become the secondary extrahepatic bile duct stones.
3. Biliary tract tumor: if the tumor presses on the biliary tract, it will cause bile stasis and dilatation of intrahepatic bile duct.
If the phenomenon of intrahepatic bile duct dilatation is found, it is recommended to treat it under the guidance of professional doctors so as to avoid delaying the condition.
