What should I do if my incisor is knocked out and the nerve is exposed?

Depending on the degree of damage, the nerve (clinically known as the pulp) of a knocked-out incisor can be cut off or treated with root canal therapy.
1. Pulpotomy: If the pulp of the broken incisor is exposed to a small extent and has not been exposed to the external environment for a long time, and the pulp of the root still has a certain degree of vitality, the pulp exposed at the crown can be removed only, and then covered with special materials for the protection of the pulp for routine filling and restoration (i.e., pulpotomy).
2. Root canal treatment: If the pulp is exposed to the external environment for a long time after the incisor is knocked off, and the pulp is exposed too much, then most of the pulp tissue has been irreversibly lost. In this case, only root canal treatment can be performed, i.e., complete removal of pulp tissue and then filling treatment.
It is recommended to consult a doctor for a clear diagnosis and treatment to avoid delaying the condition.
