How much is an MRI of the bile ducts

Bile duct MRI has obvious advantages over other imaging modalities because of its ability to perform pancreaticobiliary water imaging, especially for clarifying the number, size, location, and extent of stones or tumors. For a simple bile duct plain MRI, the price is about$500; for both bile duct plain and pancreatic bile duct water imaging, the cost is about$1000. For bile duct tumor lesions, sometimes plain scan or pancreatic bile duct water imaging is not good enough to evaluate the disease, and further enhanced MRI is needed, which can cost about$1000-1200. The cost of MRI examination varies from region to region and from hospital to hospital, and it depends on the standard set by the local price department. However, since MRI is relatively expensive, it is not the first choice in clinical practice. Generally, ultrasound is used for preliminary examination, and if abnormalities such as bile duct dilatation are found, further MRI and ERCP examination can be considered.
