There is no such formula as Si Shen Tang Wan, only Si Shen Wan, which can be used for Wujing Diarrhea (abdominal pain and desire to defecate that occurs before dawn). Si Shen Wan is from “The Quorum of Evidence” and consists of tonic bone resin, Wu Zhu (Cornus officinalis), nutmeg, schizandra, and jujube. Si Shen Wan has the effects of warming the kidneys and dispersing cold (warming the kidneys and dispersing cold), astringing the intestines and stopping diarrhea (relieving diarrhea by enhancing the astringent function of the intestines). It is used in treating diarrhea caused by deficiency of kidney yang (lack of yang qi in the kidney), symptoms of which include ringing in the intestines and abdominal distension, loose bowel movements, poor appetite, prolonged diarrhea, yellowish color of the face and cold limbs. In this formula, tonifying bone marrow warms the fire of the life gate; nutmeg astringes the intestines to stop diarrhea, warms the spleen and stomach; Wu Zhu Zu warms the spleen and kidney; Wu Weizi Zi warms the intestines to stop diarrhea, astringes the intestines to stop diarrhea, and strengthens the kidney and benefits the qi; jujube nourishes the spleen and stomach. Contraindications and adverse effects of this product are not known.
