Meningiomas that are about 2 cm in diameter and have no sensation can be left untreated for the time being, with regular follow-ups at the hospital. If the tumor grows progressively, or causes other discomforts, immediate surgery is needed.
Meningiomas are usually benign tumors. When the diameter of the meningioma is about 2 cm, and the tumor has no sensation and grows slowly, the tumor can be left untreated and followed up in the hospital on a regular basis.
If the tumor grows progressively or causes headache, nausea, visual field defects and other symptoms, surgical treatment (e.g., tumor resection), radiation therapy or medication (e.g., tamoxifen, mifepristone, etc.) should be used to control the progression of the disease as prescribed by the doctor.
Patients are advised to visit the hospital in time and choose the appropriate treatment plan after the doctor’s multi-faceted assessment so as not to affect their daily life.
