How to detect ADHD

Psychiatry does not currently have special instruments to directly diagnose ADHD, and ADHD in children is diagnosed primarily based on clinical presentation. ADHD lasts for a period of time, and clinical requirements require symptoms to be present for a prolonged period of 6 months or more, and symptoms in this area are present on multiple occasions with a certain level of severity to be diagnosed as ADHD. The age criteria for ADHD in children is at least 8 of the following behaviors before the age of 12: 1, hands or feet often keep moving or wriggling in their seats; 2, difficulty sitting still when asked to do so; 3, easily distracted by external stimuli; 4, cannot wait patiently for a turn in a game or group activity; 5, often rush to answer before someone finishes asking; 6, difficulty following someone’s prompting to 6. has difficulty following instructions to complete something (not due to disobedient behavior or failure to understand), e.g., cannot complete household tasks; 7. has difficulty maintaining attention during homework or games; 8. often does not finish one thing and changes to another; 9. has difficulty playing quietly; 10. often talks too much; 11. often interrupts or interferes with others’ activities, e.g., interferes with other children’s play; 12. often seems to listen when others talk to him; 13. Often loses objects (e.g., books, pencils, workbooks, toys, etc.) used in school or at home for learning and activities; 14. Often participates in activities that are dangerous to the body without considering the possible consequences (not for stimulation), such as running to the center of the street without looking around. Children with ADHD have no specific positive signs or pathological reflexes on physical and laboratory examination. Sometimes they show clumsy and slow movements and have slight difficulty with fine motor skills (e.g., buttoning buttons, tying shoelaces). The intelligence examination was generally normal and there were no special abnormalities in the EEG.
