The Hepatitis B Pentathlon is a serum marker to detect Hepatitis B virus infection, including surface antigen (HBsAg), surface antibody (anti-HBs), e antigen (HBeAg), e antibody (anti-HBe) and core antibody (anti-HBc). Different testing methods and different reagents may result in slightly different ranges of normal values. 1. Hepatitis B Surface Antigen: The normal value of Hepatitis B Surface Antigen is 0 to 0.5 ng/mL, and greater than 0.5 ng/mL is considered positive. Normal people are negative for Hepatitis B surface antigen, and HBsAg positivity is seen during the incubation period of acute hepatitis B and peaks at the onset of the disease. 2. Hepatitis B Surface Antibody: The normal value of Hepatitis B Surface Antibody is from 0 to 10mIU/mL, and more than 10mIU/mL is positive. The test result of hepatitis B surface antibody of normal people is negative or positive, and the positive result indicates that the body has antibodies to prevent hepatitis B virus infection. 3. Hepatitis B e antigen: the normal value of Hepatitis B e antigen is 0 to 0.5 PEI/mL, and greater than 0.5 PEI/mL is positive. Normal people’s hepatitis B e antigen test results are negative, positive indicates that hepatitis B is in the active stage and is highly contagious. 4. Hepatitis B e antibody: the normal value of Hepatitis B e antibody is 0 to 1.5 PEI/mL, and greater than 1.5 PEI/mL is positive. Normal people’s hepatitis B e antibody test result is negative, positive indicates that the patient has been infected with hepatitis B virus and infected for a long time. 5. Hepatitis B core antibody: the normal value of Hepatitis B core antibody is 0 to 0.9 PEI/mL, and greater than 0.9 PEI/mL is positive. Normal people’s hepatitis B core antibody test results are negative, and positive results indicate that they have been infected with the hepatitis B virus. When patients undergo the Hepatitis B penta test, it is recommended that they go to a regular hospital and have their questions answered by a specialized doctor.
