What to do if your glove touches your lips during a nucleic acid test.

The touching of a glove on the lips during a nucleic acid test is usually not a cause for concern. It is recommended to rinse the mouth several times and to clean and sanitize the lips. During sampling for nucleic acid testing, the glove may touch the subject’s lips because the sampler is wearing too large a glove or is working too fast. When this happens, there is no need to worry too much. This is because before each sampling, the sampler is required to perform a seven-step hand washing process using hand sanitizer to kill pathogens on their hands. Therefore, it is very unlikely that the gloves are carrying the virus, and it is probably just sanitizer if there is anything on the lips. It is recommended to wipe the lips with a wet tissue or alcohol promptly to sanitize them. To avoid oral contamination, gargle with salt water several times or rinse with mouthwash. It will not spread disease under normal circumstances and can be cleaned and disinfected.
