A foul-smelling nose that feels putrid is most often seen clinically in the following conditions: 1. fungal sinusitis, especially unilateral fungal maxillary sinusitis. The patient feels a putrid or fishy smell, usually with obvious pus and blood nasal discharge. 2. Atrophic rhinitis, also known as odoriferous rhinitis. The specific cause is not too clear, generally the mucosa of the nasal cavity and the bones of the turbinates are obviously atrophied, there is a large number of pus scabs, the secretions under the scabs are decomposed by the body surface bacteria to produce a putrid smell. 3, nasal foreign body with infection, especially in children who can not provide a clear history of foreign bodies, such as paper, peanuts, soybeans and so on. The diagnosis can be confirmed by rhinoscopy.
