The scientific name for acne is acne vulgaris, a chronic inflammatory skin disease of the sebaceous glands of hair follicles that grows mainly on the head, face, upper chest and back. The treatment cycle for acne usually takes more than 2-3 months and is prone to recurrence. Topical preparations of retinoids and topical antibiotics, such as erythromycin isotretinoin gel, can usually be used. It dissolves the clogged keratin while reducing inflammation, making the hair follicles unclogged. For more severe cases, oral medications such as isotretinoin, clarithromycin, or doxycycline are also required. If you want to speed up treatment, currently facial acne can be treated with red and blue light and fruit acid peels in addition to medication. For severe disfiguring acne with cysts and nodules, photodynamic therapy and other treatments are available, all with good results.
