The difference between an enhanced MRI and a regular MRI is that a regular MRI is used to find a lesion and clearly localize it, while an enhanced MRI builds on the regular MRI and is used to determine the specific nature of the lesion. Enhanced MRI requires the injection of a contrast agent, whereas plain MRI does not.
Ordinary MRI is mainly used to find lesions, clear localization of lesions, but can not well distinguish the nature of the lesion; Enhanced MRI is on the basis of ordinary MRI, injection of contrast agent, the use of lesions and normal tissues, the difference in the intensity of the signal generated, the nature of the disease diagnosis, will be more than ordinary MRI scanning several sequences.
Through the enhancement of MRI, you can observe whether there is enhancement of the lesion, showing some of the more vascular tumor lesions. It can also be used to differentiate new lesions from old ones in demyelinating diseases, which are not available in ordinary MRI.
