Rib neuralgia may be caused by thoracic spine disease, viral infection, intercostal neuritis, trauma, thoracic cavity disease and so on.
1. Thoracic spine diseases: commonly seen in thoracic disc herniation, spinal column or spinal cord tumors, etc., due to the stimulation of paravertebral nerves causing pain radiating to the corresponding intercostal space along the front.
2. Viral infections: commonly seen in herpes zoster causing neuroinflammation as well as herpes of the skin, patients may experience tingling or burning pain.
3. Intercostal neuritis: commonly caused by cold, exertion and other causes of aseptic inflammation of intercostal nerves, fascia and other tissues, may appear symptoms of costal neuralgia.
4. Trauma: rib fracture and intercostal nerve and blood vessel injury caused by trauma can also cause symptoms of costal neuralgia.
5. Thoracic diseases: common in pleurisy, pneumonia, mediastinal tumor and other diseases, can also appear rib neuralgia, coughing and sneezing can cause pain aggravation.
There may be other causes of costal neuralgia, it is recommended to go to the hospital in time, improve the examination to clarify the cause of the disease, and then give targeted treatment or therapy.
