Hereditary ichthyosis is caused by a genetic mutation inherited from one or both parents and is characterized by dry skin with ichthyosis-like scales. Hereditary ichthyosis is mainly treated with topical medications to reduce dry skin and improve skin appearance. Topical medications include urea cream, lactic acid ointment, calcipotriol ointment, cholesterol cream and so on.
Those with severe disease need to take oral medication for treatment, including isotretinoin, avitamin A and other retinoic acid drugs, but need to pay attention to its hair loss, lip inflammation, bone spurs and other adverse reactions.
