Piper betel is an empirical formula of contemporary Chinese medicine and surgery, created by Mr. Zhao Shanghua. It has the efficacy of dredging the liver and regulating the stagnation of liver qi, resolving phlegm and dispersing lumps. It can be used to treat scrofula (mainly refers to tuberculosis of cervical lymph nodes), breast fetish (painful lumps in the breasts, closely related to menstrual cycle and emotional changes, equivalent to breast hyperplasia), and the incipient stage of breast cancer.
The main components of Piper betel are Chai Hu, Angelica sinensis, Poria, Paeonia lactiflora, Atractylodes macrocephala, Phellodendron amurense, Psidium guajava, Pinellia ternata, Gallus gallus, Cimicifuga sinensis, and Raw Oyster.
It is used for scrofula, breast fetish and the initial stage of breast cancer, which is mostly caused by liver depression and phlegm condensation, liver qi stagnation (poor transportation of qi and blood in the liver and emotional depression), and may be accompanied by symptoms of impatience and irritability, pain in the chest and ribs, and heartburn and mouth bitterness.
Adverse effects are not known. People with deficiency of Yin or deficiency of Qi and Blood should not use Piper betel.
