Si Miao Wan is made from Chinese herbal preparations of Atractylodes macrocephalus, Achyranthes bidentata and Phellodendron, and is used for the treatment of redness and swelling of the knee joint, tendon pain, joint pain and lumbar pain. The main side effects are pain in the stomach, nausea, poor bowel discharge and bad breath. Long-term use may also cause fever in the hands and feet, night sweats, dry eyes, afternoon hot flashes, and dryness in the mouth and throat. A few patients may also suffer from kidney yin deficiency, thinning of the body and weakness, so it should not be taken after serious side effects to avoid aggravating the condition.
