An IVF pregnancy is the same as a normal pregnancy. In a normal pregnancy, the woman provides an egg and the man provides a sperm, and the sperm and egg combine in the fallopian tube to form a fertilized egg, which is then transported to the uterus, where it is laid. In IVF, the eggs are treated with medication to make them grow, then the eggs are removed from the body and the male partner’s sperm is also removed. The egg is then transported to the uterus, where it takes root and grows inside the uterus, except that it is fertilized outside the body, but the resulting embryo is the same. There are many scientific studies that confirm that the probability of birth defects in IVF children is the same as in normal pregnancies.
