Runny nose may be rhinitis or sinusitis, mainly depending on the color of the nasal discharge. If the nose is clear, like watery, it is usually allergic rhinitis. Allergic rhinitis is a nasal symptom caused by nasal inhalation of allergens. Patients may experience morning sneezing, clear watery nose, nasal itching, bilateral nasal congestion, eyelid congestion, eye itching, and in severe cases, a generalized papular rash. On examination, pale and edematous mucous membranes of both turbinates can be found, and the surface is covered with pale white secretions. In terms of treatment, allergic rhinitis firstly requires the use of anti-allergic drugs, while the nasal cavity is treated with topical topical application of Cochlear nasal aerosol, exercise to improve immunity and resistance, which can be gradually cured. In case of yellow nasal discharge, it is usually seen in acute sinusitis, which is caused by inflammation and infection resulting in congestion, edema and inflammatory exudation of sinus mucosa, and patients will have yellow nasal discharge from both nasal cavities, nasal congestion, decreased sense of smell and headache, etc. Sinus CT can confirm the diagnosis. If acute sinusitis is diagnosed, the patient first needs symptomatic anti-inflammatory treatment, and also needs to perform sinus puncture and irrigation, which can be cured in about a week. Chronic sinusitis can be cured by surgical treatment.
