Is it normal to have hard lumps in your breasts?

Usually there are no hard lumps in healthy breasts, and if there are hard lumps, they may be caused by some diseases and are abnormal. However, some women have improper self-examination methods and can treat normal glands as hard lumps when there is actually no adverse disease, which is then normal. Breast tissue is connective tissue, consisting of several breast lobules, and the hoof tissue is relatively tough. Some women do not grasp the correct self-examination method during self-examination, and only use their hands to pinch and grasp their breasts, mistaking normal glands for lumps. However, there are some conditions that can cause hard lumps in the breasts, such as breast fibroids, breast hyperplastic lumps, malignant tumors of the breast and breast cysts. Therefore, if a hard lump is found in the breast after examination with proper self-examination techniques, you should immediately go to a regular hospital breast surgery or general surgery department for systematic examination and sometimes mammography and breast MRI. When the diagnosis is unclear, pathological examination of the hard lump is also performed. The formal breast lump examination technique is to gently palpate with the palm side of the finger after putting four fingers together, and complete the procedure in the order of external upper, external lower, internal lower and internal upper breast, then gently squeeze the areola and the underside of the nipple to check for lumps, and finally gently pinch the nipple to check for overflow and check the armpit for swelling.
