Can pneumoconiosis be cured with a lung transplant?

Lung transplantation is an effective treatment for end-stage pneumoconiosis. Lung transplantation can greatly improve the quality of life of pneumoconiosis patients and increase their survival rate, but pneumoconiosis itself cannot be cured by lung transplantation.
Pneumoconiosis is a relatively common occupational disease. Early and middle stage pneumoconiosis patients are mainly treated with symptomatic treatment in order to delay the progression of the disease and improve the quality of life of the patients. While there is no effective treatment for end-stage pneumoconiosis except lung transplantation, lung transplantation brings hope to the survival of pneumoconiosis patients.
Lung transplantation can improve the quality of life of pneumoconiosis patients and increase the survival rate. According to the literature, the five-year survival rate of pneumoconiosis lung transplant patients can reach 50%~56%.
It is recommended that patients should choose the appropriate treatment plan under the guidance of doctors and in accordance with the characteristics of their own conditions.
