What does thrombocytopenic purpura mean?

Thrombocytopenic purpura is a condition in which bleeding occurs as a result of a low platelet count or reduced function. It is a common blood disorder.
Thrombocytopenic purpura is categorized into two types according to the source of the disease: primary thrombocytopenic purpura and secondary thrombocytopenic purpura.
Primary thrombocytopenic purpura: also known as immune (or idiopathic) thrombocytopenic purpura. According to the rapidity of onset of the disease is divided into acute and chronic two kinds, acute type is common in children, chronic type is common in adults. It may be caused by the production of anti-platelet autoantibodies within the body, which destroys its own platelets.
Secondary thrombocytopenic purpura: It is caused by certain autoimmune diseases, acute leukemia, aplastic anemia and other diseases.
It is recommended that patients should actively consult the doctor and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
