How to determine if you have periodontal pockets

Periodontal pockets are caused by local irritation, trauma and other factors, resulting in the degeneration or destruction of gingival fibers, combined with the proliferation of epithelium along the root surface, resulting in pathological deepening of the gingival sulcus, which is one of the clinical symptoms of various types of periodontal disease, and the continued development of periodontal pockets can lead to loosening or loss of teeth. To determine whether periodontal pockets appear, it can be clarified by clinical symptoms and auxiliary examination. 1. Judgment according to the symptoms If periodontal pocket appears, it can produce different degrees of inflammation on the gums in the nearby parts, the gums are red or dark purple, the gums are swollen and soft, the gum dot color disappears, the gum edge is rounded and separated from the tooth surface, the gums bleed easily during eating, and pus overflows when the gums are lightly pressed, and the patient can feel bad breath. Progressive deepening of periodontal pockets can lead to continuous destruction of periodontal support tissues, resulting in gradual loosening and displacement of teeth, gradual widening of gaps and even tooth loss, patients generally have no pain, occasionally local swelling, chewing pain and other symptoms. 2.Judgment by auxiliary examination Through periodontal endoscopy, you can visually observe the subgingival root surface and probe the bleeding periodontal pockets. For moderate and severe periodontal pockets, ultrasonic subgingival scraping assisted by periodontal endoscopy can be taken, which has remarkable therapeutic effect.
