Can you drink alcohol with moderate fatty liver?

Patients with moderate fatty liver should not drink alcohol, especially those with alcohol-induced fatty liver; if they continue to drink alcohol, it may evolve into alcoholic hepatitis, and if alcoholic hepatitis develops further, alcoholic cirrhosis will occur, and it may even lead to alcohol-related liver cancer and so on. Therefore, for patients with fatty liver caused by alcohol consumption, that is, alcoholic steatohepatitis, alcohol should not be consumed. If fatty liver is not caused by alcohol, it is also recommended not to drink alcohol, because drinking alcohol will lead to aggravation of fatty liver disease, and may cause liver function damage, that is, there will be transaminase elevation, bilirubin elevation and so on, so it is recommended that the patient must follow the doctor’s advice to quit drinking. For patients with fatty liver, it is recommended that they should cooperate with specialists to use liver-protecting and enzyme-lowering medications when necessary.
