Mild concussions usually heal spontaneously and usually do not require special treatment. Usually with 5-7 days of bed rest, most patients with mild concussions can return to normal in about 2 weeks. Although mild concussions can heal on their own, they should not be taken lightly. Even if the patient does not have more obvious symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, or inability to eat, he or she should be observed patiently for 24 or 72 hours, and no treatment can be done if it is determined that the symptoms will not continue to worsen or there is no brain hemorrhage. However, some patients with more pronounced headache or with insomnia may be treated with analgesic and sedative drugs after diagnosis by the doctor. There are also a few patients who may experience temporary cognitive decline, and such patients need timely treatment, and they can usually return to normal after treatment for about six months. Mild concussions with no obvious symptoms usually do not require treatment. Patients should not be overly worried and anxious, but should take more rest and pay attention to observation during the resting stage, and should seek medical attention as soon as any discomfort occurs.
