Can a cast be removed in a week?

The cast cannot be removed for one week.
Plaster immobilization is mainly used for conservative treatment of fractures, especially for non-displaced fracture, generally immobilized for 4~6 weeks, children’s fracture healing faster than adults generally can be immobilized for about 3~4 weeks. When there is growth of bone crust or blurring of the fracture line, the cast can be removed for functional exercise.
After one week of plaster fixation, because there is no obvious growth of bone crust, the fracture is not stable locally, and may be displaced after removing the plaster, and in serious cases, surgery is needed for internal fixation.
You can’t remove the cast after one week of fixation, but you should review the film regularly to see the recovery of the fracture, and decide the time of removing the cast according to the healing condition of the fracture.
