Excessive growth in childhood is one of the symptoms of gigantism and acromegaly. Giantism is generally an endocrine metabolic disorder caused by persistent overproduction of growth hormone (GH). The cause of GH overproduction is mainly pituitary GH tumors or pituitary GH cell hyperplasia, but the etiology of the tumors or hyperplasia is not known. Pituitary dwarfism can occur if growth hormone is not secreted sufficiently in early childhood. Its prevention methods are as follows. 1. Observation of the disease: Patients with advanced hypopituitarism combined with anterior hypopituitarism should be closely observed for changes in their condition, paying attention to blood pressure, heart rate, respiration and other vital characteristics. Avoid stress, infection, exertion and other triggers, such as severe gastrointestinal symptoms, mental disorders, high fever, etc. need to be alert to the occurrence of hypopituitarism crisis, promptly reported to the doctor for rescue treatment. Patients with pituitary tumors should pay attention to the occurrence of pituitary stroke with severe headache, nausea and vomiting, and changes in mental status. 2.Therapeutic care: Ask the patient to take medication on time, and help the patient to keep four sections of urine and check urine glucose and ketone bodies if he/she needs insulin injection for diabetes. Patients with anterior hypopituitarism should be checked and reminded not to stop the medication casually to avoid inducing crisis. 3, cooperate with doctors to do functional test examination: accurately retain various specimens and send them for examination, in order to avoid the pain of patients with multiple needles, can make heparinization to retain the syringe to take blood, need to prevent needle blockage during the test, regularly push heparin solution and conduct examination.
