What is the function and efficacy of Huang Jing as recorded in the Compendium of Materia Medica?

The Compendium of Materia Medica states that the functions and effects of Huang Jing are to nourish yin and moisten the lungs (nourishing the lungs by replenishing the lung fluid), tonify the spleen and benefit the qi, and nourish the kidneys and fill in the essence.
