The specific time required for a perianal abscess to heal with a change of medication is clinically determined by the location of the perianal abscess and the degree of recovery of the condition. Relatively low perianal abscesses are relatively easy to treat and can gradually heal in about 2-3 weeks with drug changes to achieve a complete cure. However, complicated high perianal abscesses are more troublesome to operate, and due to the large trauma surface and more trauma residual cavities, the time for changing medication may be relatively longer, and it takes about 28-40 days after surgery to heal completely. In severe cases with a complication of anal fistula, the maximum time is more than one and a half months before the degree of healing can be gradually achieved. Patients with perianal abscesses must change their medication under the guidance of a regular anorectal surgeon, and also keep their bowels open to prevent constipation and diarrhea from locally stimulating the perianal abscess.
