Sigmoid bulge is mostly benign lesions such as colon polyps, some types of polyps need to be surgically removed, there is also a certain probability of malignant lesions, it is recommended to carry out a pathological examination to clarify the nature of the next step in the treatment and examination plan. A sigmoid bulge is a description of what is going on in the bowel under colonoscopy. Most polyps appear as a sigmoid bulge on colonoscopy. Polyps can be categorized as inflammatory polyps, hyperplastic polyps, and adenomatous polyps. A small percentage of sigmoid colon bulges may also be malignant, i.e., sigmoid colon cancer. When a bulging lesion is detected by colonoscopy, pathologic examination is recommended to clarify the nature of the lesion. If the pathology suggests inflammatory polyps and hyperplastic polyps, they can be followed up and observed or directly resected; if the pathology suggests adenomatous polyps, there is a certain probability of malignancy, and it is possible to screen out the malignant lesions after resection under enteroscopy; if the pathology shows that it is a malignant tumor, it needs to be actively treated, and surgery, radiotherapy (e.g., 5-FU, furazuril), and so on, will be carried out in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
